Sunday Letter - Freedom to Serve in Love

This Fourth of July holiday can remind us to ask ourselves, “In what way can I become freer? What inner or outer obstacles still limit me in my life? Where am I still thinking lack rather than abundance?”

It may be time to shine greater light into our darker places to root out the cause of any self-imprisonment. Independence Day can symbolize for us our need to let go of old, limiting thoughts and embrace a new freedom. Begin with some self-care, pausing and taking time for yourself to ask and answer those questions posed.

Perhaps you have physical limitations that have been keeping you from doing some of the things you want. Stretch yourself a bit, overcome your fear, and do what you know you can. Perhaps you have financial concerns. Pull out a prosperity book or jump online and read something uplifting about the subject. Find an affirmation and begin saying it, thinking in a new way. Maybe anxiety is your issue, a leftover from your past. You are more powerful than any anxiety. You can control it in the moment by removing your attention from the problem and focusing intently on something else. In the long term, ask for guidance for the healing of your anxiety, and then, listen and act when the guidance comes.

In America, freedom is one of our core values. Though some today would change that. It is difficult to understand why some would prefer authoritarianism to democracy, but we can hold to the belief that the majority will prevail.

We can feel gratitude for the freedoms we already have. Count the ways you remain free and the possibilities that are yours. And, we can focus intensely on an even stronger democracy for all. Let us see the threat as an opportunity to strengthen our values and our commitment to freedom.

Happy Independence Day!
Love & blessings,
