Sunday Letter - Burning Bowl & Letters to God "A New Time"

We join in the seasonal festivals with our special Burning Bowl Service this coming Sunday, December 31, at 10:30 am. The lesson title is “A New Time,” and the Burning Bowl Ceremony includes the ritual of writing what we want to release from last year, dropping it into the “burning bowl,” and then writing a letter to God, giving thanks in advance for our 2024 hopes and dreams. Join us for this powerful ceremony of release and renewal!

The whole universe, scientists now tell us, is nothing but change, activity, and process—a totality of flux that is the ground of all things. The subatomic world is a continual dance of creation and annihilation, of mass changing into energy and energy changing into mass. Transient forms sparkle in and out of existence, creating a never-ending, forever newly-created reality.

Let us not be afraid of change. Breakdown must come before breakthrough. With this New Year, let us awaken, holding life more precious than ever before. And let us have faith. Our faith is always tested during crises.  I always find that no matter what happens, no matter what theories are out there, that we each have a choice…to live in doubt, or live in faith.

I love the words of the wizard Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, when Frodo spoke of the evil ring and said, “I wish the ring had never come to me…I wish none of this had happened.” Gandalf replied, “So do all of those who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that it is given to us.”

That applies to us at the beginning of this New Year. This is a time for release of the past and emergence into the light, into new dreams and visions activated through the power of faith. Faith means knowing; whatever we strongly and consistently know will come into our life is invariably what we experience. Activating our faith means envisioning it, affirming it, knowing it, and talking about it as though it is already reality.

The Christ Potential in each one of us means that we have unlimited power to perform the seemingly impossible. What do we believe? What do we choose to know—to focus on—to have faith in?

This is the time to become clear and to set our intentions for the coming year. Consider your hopes and dreams. Write them down. Then activate your faith and turn the outcome over to God. I invite you to do this personally, and also for our spiritual community, Unity North Spiritual Center. We give thanks for an abundant Universe manifesting in each of our lives and in this ministry as prosperity and abundance, faith, peace, love and joy!

Have a wonderful New Year filled with the realization of your hopes and dreams!

Love & blessings,
Rev. Kathy
