Join us for this exciting World Religions 6-week Sunday lesson series with follow up classes on the Wednesday following each Sunday.

February 22 ~ Hindism & Unity Lesson
Said to be the oldest religion: 1,500 to 2,000 BCE, up to 10,000 BCE, or older! It is not known when it began; there is no specific founder.

  • Class 12:15-1:15 PM (Hybrid). Emphasis on some of the Hindu Gods.

March 1 and 4 ~ Buddhism & Unity
Founded in India in the 6th century BCE by Siddhartha Gautama, who became the Buddha. It developed in protest to certain Hindu beliefs and practices.

March 8 and 11 ~ Judaism & Unity
Like Christianity and Islam, Judaism also traces its lineage to the patriarch Abraham. God made a covenant with Abraham, as described in the Book of Genesis, to establish a chosen people, a “great nation,” from Abraham’s descendants. In return, Abraham and his followers would offer God total obedience.

The Torah, also known as the Five Books of Moses, begin both the Hebrew and Christian bibles. It teaches that the Hebrew people are descended from Abraham.

March 15 and 18 ~ Christianity & Unity
Christianity grew from a tiny sect in first-century Palestine to become one of the world’s great faiths. The four New Testament Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke and John—are the received accounts of the life and ministry of Jesus. These were all assembled much later. Christianity began as a form of Judaism, since Jesus and his earliest followers were observant Jews.

March 22 and 25 ~ Islam & Unity
Muhammad was the founder of Islam, after the Angel Gabriel appeared to him in 610 CE in the city of Mecca (in present day Saudi Arabia). Gabriel told Muhammad that God had commissioned Muhammad as His last prophet. Muslims share many of the same beliefs as Christians and Jews, while differing from Eastern religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism.

March 29 and April 1 ~ New Thought & Unity
Unity did not simply begin with Charles and Myrtle Fillmore but emerged from the 19th century “New Thought Movement.” The Fillmore’s were influenced by the “New Thought” of the times. We will discover this fascinating history, which includes transcendentalism, healing, and some of the early decisions made that created Unity as it is today.
