This Sunday, at our 10:30 AM Service, the Lesson is titled “In the Question.” It is a Q&A Session with the congregation and Minister that takes place 3-4 times a year during the Sunday Service. People write questions for the Minister, and they are answered spontaneously—this is the Sunday Lesson. It’s always fun and informative!
One of the songs that our musician, Judi, chose is “Blowin’ in the Wind.” And I thought, how perfect since that implies the answers are all around us and easily available, and yet at the same time, they may be elusive and difficult to grasp, like the wind is.
It is said that sometimes the question is more important than the answer. That may be true in the sense that it is important to formulate our questions carefully in order to receive the answer we are looking for. When we take the time and care to ask ourselves a question, we may find that the question then clarifies the answer to any confusion we may have felt.
Also, some people go through life never asking the important questions, such as “Who am I?” “Why am I here?” “What is my purpose?” “How can I accomplish what I need to in this life?” Attempting to answer those questions can change one’s entire way of approaching life.
I don’t claim to have all of the answers by any means, but in attempting to answer your questions, I will do my best to represent what Unity teaches and what I have come to know through my years of serving churches and helping people deal with their spiritual “issues.” It’s always very interesting for me to see what people ask, and it shows some of the collective and personal challenges people are facing. It also shows what interests you in terms of knowledge and education. And it helps to give me a pulse on where you are currently “coming from.”
When you arrive at Unity on Sunday, you will be given a form on which to write your question. You can choose to remain anonymous (or not). Then, they will be collected early in the Service, so I have time to very quickly put them in some sort of order in case there are duplicate questions. So, it will be helpful if you have time to reflect on your question in advance. Those of you on Zoom will have the option to ask your questions as well. Please send a message in the Zoom chat directly to Unity North at the very beginning of the Service, and my assistant, Brande, will be gathering those and making them available to me. If you are not able to attend Service, it will be available to see on our website within two or three days.
Love & Blessings,
Rev. Kathy
