I am inspired by the kindness that I have received during my time of recovery after my unexpected surgery, and then, relapse. Some of you have sent meals, picked up groceries, offered needed support, and emailed or called to check in. Also, many of you have been praying for me as well, which I also deeply appreciate!
I know some of you are not aware of what happened and may feel concerned after my five or so Sundays away. The following letter is one I have written to you all. I have asked our worship assistant, Howard, to read it at Service this Sunday, in order to update everyone.
Letter to Unity North Community
From Rev. Kathy
Dear Friends,
I am so sorry to miss another Sunday without advance notice. And I am so grateful to Rhonda for speaking once again today, and also for Noel, who stepped in the first Sunday in May.
When I had my hip replaced two years ago, I knew ahead of time and was able to prepare at home and at work, and we booked speakers six weeks out. My pacemaker surgery on April 8 was sudden and unexpected. I returned too early to church on the second Sunday post-surgery, did two Sunday Services, and then relapsed.
On top of that, I apparently caught a bug that gave me a fever for two weeks—along with severe muscle aches, headaches, and nausea. At the same time, AFib (atrial fibrillation) was included in my diagnosis, and medication was prescribed that I am still adjusting to.
I very much appreciate your prayers for healing, renewal, and strength. Since I’m a Party Animal, like the rest of you, I especially regret missing church today on Party Sunday! I hope you all have a fun time!
It’s great to know though that I can relax and trust that all is well with such a great staff and team of volunteers—and a loving congregation.
Thank you for your patience, prayers, and kindness through this time!
See you soon.
Much love,
Rev. Kathy
