Happy Sunday, and a very blessed Earth Day coming up this week on Wednesday. We stand at a sacred threshold—not just of a new week, but of a profound "Earth Awakening." In Unity, we often speak of the "Second Coming" as the awakening of the Christ consciousness within the individual. Today, I invite us to expand that vision and recognize the awakening of that same Divine Spirit within the very soil, the air, and the waters of our beautiful home.
The 12 Powers we study are not limited to human experience. We see Divine Order in the changing of the seasons; we feel Divine Love in the warmth of the spring sun; we witness Divine Life as the dormant seeds break through the dark earth to reach for the light. When we look at the world through this lens, Earth Day ceases to be a mere secular observance and becomes a high holy day of spiritual recognition.
Charles Fillmore, our co-founder, taught that "the air is filled with spiritual forces" and that "every atom of the universe is a living center of intelligence." If this is true—and we know in our hearts that it is—then our relationship with the Earth is a primary spiritual practice. We are not separate from nature, trying to "save" it from the outside. We are the consciousness of the Earth itself, waking up to its own divinity.
This awakening calls us to a new level of stewardship. It asks us to move beyond "sustainability" and toward "reverence." When we walk upon the ground, can we feel the heartbeat of the Mother? When we breathe, can we acknowledge the shared breath of all living things?
This week, I challenge you to find one moment of "Earth Stillness." Step outside, place your hands on a tree or your feet in the grass, and simply listen. Affirm with me: “I am one with the living Spirit of the Earth. Through me, the world is healed, renewed, and awakened.”
As we go forth into this glorious spring day, let us carry the light of this awakening in our hearts. Let us treat every leaf as a scripture and every breeze as a prayer.
In Love and Oneness,
Rev. Kathy
