Sunday Service - Coming Home, Week 2: Honoring Oneness

Our four-week series, "Coming Home," charts the classic spiritual arc of human consciousness: Paradise (Home), Paradise Lost (Leaving Home), and Paradise Found (Returning Home).

Early in this journey, we discover the "I"—the ego. In Unity, we understand that the ego is not an enemy to be destroyed; it is a natural structure of the human experience. The challenge arises only when we become stuck, frozen, or entirely identified with it. To evolve, we must leave the nest of our initial innocence, step into a grander world, and ultimately realize our deep, unbreakable oneness with humanity and all of life. Along the way, we gather allies, conquer our fears, and uncover the sanctuary of the heart—the true doorway to the inner Self and the ultimate home we have been seeking all along.

Following last week’s foundation of "Honoring Home," Week 2 invites us to expand our boundaries. If the first step of the journey is recognizing where we stand, the second step is recognizing that we do not stand alone. This week is about “Honoring Oneness.”

We gently look past the illusions of the isolated "I." By melting the rigid boundaries of the ego, we open ourselves to the collective human experience. As we venture into the unknown, the Universe provides. We recognize and honor the teachers, friends, and spiritual allies who mirror our divine nature and help us build strength.

We conquer fear through connection; fear thrives in isolation. When we awaken to Oneness, we realize that the strength of the whole flows through us. We conquer our fears not by fighting them, but by expanding our consciousness to encompass all of life.

Ultimately, this Sunday’s lesson centers on the heart. It is the heart that bridges the human and the divine, dissolving division and leading us directly to our inner Self. Come share in the music, meditation, and message as we collectively move from isolation to community, and from the ego to the heart.

I love this quote: “Oneness is not a place we arrive at; it is the truth of who we are when we finally come home.”
