Sunday Letter - Humor Sunday with Greg Tamblyn

I still remember my very first meeting with Greg Tamblyn back in the early 90s. He walked into my church in Tempe, AZ, on a Sunday morning and greeted me, followed by some funny quip, and had me laughing immediately. What a gift to be a natural comedian—to be so tuned into humor that it just flows from you!

It has been a joy to host him in my churches through the years since. Not that many musicians make it on the “circuit,” traveling around New Thought churches performing year after year. But Greg has that extra something, an ability to tap into the funny bone and make us laugh, but also into the heart to invoke our tears. Others have taken note and he has received numerous awards.

He has a way of reflecting the human condition, and you discover that you are not the only one who has felt like “your inner guide lied,” or that you have an “analog brain in a digital world.” Or perhaps you discovered that “self-employment is hard due to difficult boss!” He reminded me of those days of “The Great Liver Standoff,” when I refused to eat the worst food ever served a child!

In 1999, I took a tour to China that was led by Greg Tamblyn. It was a spiritual group from various churches and places, but not specifically a Unity group. It was fun seeing the Chinese people gather around in hotel lobbies and various parks to hear him sing and play his guitar. He has been leading tours to various countries ever since and has written some poignant and funny stories about some of his travels.

I hope you take the time to come to Unity North this Sunday for the 10:30 am Service and his 12:30 pm concert called “Saving the World from Whiny Victim Love Songs.” Tickets are available at the door. This event is hybrid - so you can also buy a ticket to see him on Zoom! Go to UnityNorthMN.org/Greg Tamblyn and sign up. Bring a friend as well!

Love & blessings!
