Sunday Letter - Engaging Light

What does it mean to be a bearer of light or a light worker? A light worker devotes his or her life to being a light in the world, choosing a path of light over a path of ego. Light energy is unlimited and comes from Source. It is high vibrational, expansive, positive, and full of love.

We consciously choose to be a light worker when we determine to help make the world a brighter place. We follow our gifts and let our light shine, and as we do, we encourage the light to shine more brightly in others.

We live on a planet of polarity, and light and dark are polar opposites, yet each is important for the other. Darkness motivates the light to shine brighter and light brings forth the darkness. It is common to see how those in the spotlight seem to battle forces of darkness or ego in their lives. Sometimes those expressing their light attract jealousy, envy, and those who might long for that light but do not know how to experience it.

Theologian Matthew Fox has said that we are questers after light, first the light bulb, then electricity and neon lights, and then more radio, more television, another “light box,” and now more video games, more goodies, more of that which takes us away from ourselves. So, there is a dark side of light and there is a light side of the dark. That is going into the Silence of prayer and meditation. Darkness is feminine, the depth of stillness, the place of gestation. As light workers, we can “burn out,” but we can be recharged by our time in the dark—meaning the light side of the dark—prayer and meditation and silence.

The more conscious we are, the higher our vibration, and the more aligned to Source we become. We see how everything is connected and how we fit into a larger whole. We come to know that for the greater good of not only ourselves, but for all, we must be light workers. We must let our light shine and encourage others to do the same. When there are enough of us, a great shift will occur that propels us into a brighter new world. Keep up your good work, bringing greater light one day at a time, one heart at a time!
