UNSC Suspends In-Person Activities

Unity North is suspending all in-person events, classes, gatherings and Sunday Services until September 13, 2020.

Minister’s Message
Rev. Kathy McCall

The congregation of Unity North Spiritual Center came through in the month of May and responded to the reminder to remember our financial needs through this time of closure. May was a good month—thank you to everyone for your continuing commitment! We invite you to continue speaking this affirmation with us through the summer months: I give thanks that Unity North is now abundantly blessed with more than enough financial prosperity to spare and share. Visualize the fulfillment of your affirmative prayer with great feeling and know that it is the absolute truth!

Gov. Walz and the CDC have indicated that churches can open at 50% capacity at this time. However, since the COVID-19 numbers are increasing, the Unity Board and I want to take extra care for everyone’s safety. Therefore, we have decided to re-open our church on Sunday, September 13, if in fact that decision is still in alignment with statewide policy and current events as the time grows closer.

September 13 is the weekend after Labor Day. Waiting until then will give us time to have hand sanitizer stations in place along with masks, appropriate seating arrangements, and other safety measures. We will have a team that helps to oversee those details. Sometime in August we will send a video and also post the video on our website showing you what you can expect when you return. We want you to feel comfortable and safe before you even walk through the doors.

We know that this is a new time and that church will be different. We will not have the hugs and handshakes and human touch that we were accustomed to. The seating arrangement may cause a feeling of distance rather than closeness, but remember, we will have the loving presence of one another once again. Our community is bonded in Unity principles and a deep love for one another. We know that we will do all we can to help support and keep each other safe through this time and upon our return.

Speaking of loving support, I want to thank all of you for wonderful support through my recent hip replacement surgery in early June! I so appreciate your prayers and distant healing along with your heartfelt cards and gifts. I am making good progress, and I know much of it is because I have felt your prayers and loving kindness. A special thank-you to Donna Snyder and Mary Sorenson, who actually stayed with me for six days and nights at the beginning, getting up with me during the night, giving me the right meds, fixing my meals, walking me up and down the long hallways in my apartment building, and making certain I was okay before they left. Their compassionate assistance was priceless! Their visit was followed by three days with my son Justin and his 10-year-old son Ethan, who drove from Minot, ND, to help me in the next stage of recovery. They drove me to my follow-up doctor appointment and helped me make the transition into managing on my own. I am so grateful to everyone, and my progress continues!

I want to thank former Interim Minister Rev. Barbara Winter Martin for recording the Father’s Day Sunday talk as well as the talk on June 28! My lessons will resume on July 5.

Though services will not resume until September, we have several exciting Zoom classes coming up in July and August.

Love & blessings,
Rev. Kathy
