Sunday Service - Divine Order & Harmony

How many of you have ever used the current common expression, “It Is What It Is?” To you, what does it mean? Can you give an example of a way in which you might use it?

I think of it in several ways. The Hebrew name for God in English is “I Am That I Am.” We often say, “God Is.” Or we can say “It Is,” which is essentially the same… So actually, “It Is What It Is,” means: “God Is What God Is.”

I am sure that most people never think of that meaning when they say, “It is what it is.” When I hear people say it or use it myself, I think of it as a sort of surrender to Divine Order and Timing.  We accept something, and say, “It is what it is.” So, it is not an expression that says, “I am going to go change it, whatever it is, but I am accepting and acknowledging it.” For some, unfortunately, it may imply giving up or being resigned to it. That may be a misuse of Divine Order.

There is a great Divine Order in the Universe, and when we are aligned with it, we tend to operate by a cosmic clock that keeps perfect timing. We can relax and surrender knowing “it is what it is.” All is in Divine Order and perfect timing. And harmony is part of Divine Order.

Or as it is stated in Ecclesiastes 3: “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” There is a time for the ebb and flow of all life. When we are grounded in an understanding of Divine Order, we experience greater harmony within and without.

Chaos may mean that a former sequence is thrown out of order for a greater Divine Order and Harmony to occur. Patience is always required when we cannot yet see the results we hope for. We can always know that “it is what it is.” All is in perfect Divine Order and Harmony!
